RET System with Smart Bias-Ts


The system uses local or remote commands to adjust equipment for the desired antenna performance.
 
System Operation
 
1.       A laptop or network PC running Antenna Line Device Control (ALDC) software sends an AISG command to either the Portable Control Unit (PCU-KIT-4-xx) or Site Control Unit (SCU-xxx-01).

2.       The command is forwarded to the internal or external RET unit via Smart Bias-T modems, Coax and  AISG communication feeder line cables.
 
3.       The RET unit performs the command and sends positive feedback to the Control Unit.

Any PC using MicroSoft Windows XP or 7 operating system, and directly connected to a control unit, can run the ALDC software. A network connection may be used instead of a direct local connection for greater control flexibility. An Ethernet cable is used to directly connect a user's personal computer (PC) to the site control unit (SCU-xxx-01). The SCU-xxx-01 site control unit is a compact device used to provide on-site access to AISG compliant devices via Ethernet or customer network. Antenna Line Device Control (ALDC) software sends and receives commands through the controller to the RET and other AISG compliant devices. The PCU-KIT-4-xx portable control unit is used to provide local access to AISG compliant devices at the antenna site. These cables direct the data stream between the RET units and the controller This modem device transmits data and DC voltage, via coax feedlines, to and from the antenna and base station equipment. These cables direct the data stream between the RET units and the controller. This style of RET is installed inside the antenna structure and is not visible after installation.  The cassette RET can control a single motor subunit. This style of RET is isntalled inside the antenna structure and is not visible after installation.  The MDCU can control up to 16 motor subunits. With this style of RET, 100% of the antenna aperture is dedicated to radiating elements providing higher gain for a given antenna size. RET antennas adjust the vertical beamwidth electronically, providing a superior pattern shape over mechanical tilt adjustment.
